Bengaluru: State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa yesterday appointed Tejaswini Ananth Kumar as Vice-President of the party unit in Karnataka after she was denied the seat that was given to youthful leader and RSS activist Tejasvi Surya.
In his twitter message, Yeddyurappa stated ‘Tejaswini Ananthkumar has been appointed as the Vice president of the State BJP unit’. The appointment of Tejaswini to the party post was seen as an attempt to placate Tejaswini, who was upset over denial of the party ticket to contest from the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, which was represented six times by her husband Ananth Kumar.
The BJP Central leadership had sidelined her but nominated Tejasvi Surya, a 28-year-old BJP Yuva Morcha and a RSS activist, for the key Lok Sabha seat. Tejaswini, while expressing her ‘dismay’ over denial of the party ticket, had appealed the party workers to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming general elections.
