‘Tatva Vidyanidhi’ award conferred on Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya

Returns cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh to organisers for promotion of art and literature

Mysuru:  Kala Sandesha Prathishthana, in association with Department of Kannada and Culture, conferred ‘Tatva Vidyanidhi’ award on well-known scholar and Padma Shri awardee,  Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya, at a programme organised by the Prathishthana at Nadabrahma Sangeeta Sabha, here on JLB Road recently.

Founder of Global Vishnusahasranama Satsang Foundation, Dr. Aralumallige Parthasarathy felicitated and conferred the title on Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bannanje said, “as poet Kalidasa has mentioned, Bharatanatyam is one of the best dance forms in the world. It has all the elements of a good visual art form including spirituality and literature.” 

Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya expressed his gratitude for the award and returned the cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh back to the organisers and suggested the amount be used for promotion of art and literature.

Dr. Aralumallige Parthasarathy and Gamaki Dr. Jyothi Shankar addressed the gathering and praised the exemplary achievements of Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya. 

Later, Bharatanatyam artiste K. Sandesh Bhargav and team presented a dance drama ‘Vishwamitra Gayathri,’ penned by Dr. Bannanje himself,for which Vidushi Kanchana S. Sriranjani composed the music. 

Vidwan K. Ramachandra, Muktaka Sahitya Academy President Prof. Ramaprasad, Parampare Secretary P. Krishnakumar, Bharatanatyam exponent Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra, Art Critic Dr. Rama V. Bennur, Mridanga artiste H.L. Shivashankar Swamy, Bharatanatyam danseuse Dr. Sheela Sridhar, Violinist  A.P. Srinivas, Prathishthana President Dr. D. Umapathi, Kala Sandesha Prathishthana Trustees Manu Guruswamy, Radhika Sandesh and others were present.
