DC instructs officials to make use of 15-Point grants for development of minorities
Mysore/Mysuru: “The grants sanctioned by the Government for development programmes of minorities should not be sent back. Make use of the funds,” instructed DC Abhiram G. Sankar.
He was addressing officials of various departments at the district-level third tri-monthly progress review meeting 2019-20 of Prime Minister’s 15-Point Programme for the development of minorities, at his Office yesterday. Stating that the remaining Rs. 11 lakh at Morarji Desai Residential School be used for the construction of a library at the School and to provide basic facilities, the DC instructed the officials that no grants or funds be sent back.
The DC said that there was only one Urdu School in the city and in order to benefit Muslim students, the number of Urdu schools would be increased and added that efforts would be taken to provide furniture in a few Schools.
There is a need to increase the teachers to students ratio at few schools and efforts must be taken to see that there is no dearth for teachers, he said and added that there was a shortage of Kannada teachers at the Arch Gate School and instructed the officials to take steps in this regard.
Stating that a Job Mela for unemployed minority youths of Mysuru, Mandya and Kodagu districts would be held on Feb. 19 and 20 at the Scouts and Guides Ground, DC instructed the officials to give publicity in these three districts so that minority youths could attend the Job Mela in large numbers.
Meanwhile, officials informed the DC that they had received the list of beneficiaries of various schemes from eight Assembly segments and selection of beneficiaries from Hunsur, K.R. Nagar and Periyapatna are yet to take place.
Department of Women and Child Development Deputy Director Padma informed the DC that Bhagyalakshmi Bonds were not being supplied properly since four years, but are now being supplied regularly and in turn, are being issued to beneficiaries in the taluk-level.
District Minorities Welfare Department’s District Officer Muqthar Pasha, Prime Minister’s 15-Point Programme Committee members Mohammed Rafiq and Raju were present.
