Mysuru: V.V. Puram Police have arrested two construction workers on charges of snatching gold chains in city yesterday.
The accused have been identified as Asif (21), a resident of Kalammanagudi Street, Srirangatpatna town of Mandya district and G.D. Jagannathgowda alias Jagadeesh (28), a native of Gidigadanahalli in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district.
Police caught them when they were suspiciously moving on Kalidasa Road in V.V. Puram and attempted to flee from the spot after seeing the Police.
Police chased and brought them to the Police Station and the duo confessed of snatching gold chain from a woman on Dec.11, 2018 in Vijayanagar Police Station limits and their attempt to sell stolen gold ornaments, during the Police interrogation.
A case relating to this incident was also filed against them in Vijayanagar Police Station based on the complaint lodged by Suma of Vijayanagar Fourth Stage, who got relieved gold chain from these accused.
Police recovered the stolen gold ornaments of 20 grams worth Rs.75,000 and a bike from them.
Both of them are friends, residing at Srirangapatna and they were lifting the gold ornaments in city whenever they came to work here, according to Police.
A team of V.V. Puram Police, led by Inspector H.N. Vinay and staff Prasanna, Divakar, Suresh and Manjunath, carried out their operation under the guidance of their senior officers DCP (Law & Order) M. Mutturaj and N.R. Division ACP Dharanesh.
Meanwhile, City Police have intensified the ‘Fast Track’ operation across the city by deploying Police personnel in all major circles, junctions to nab the chain-snatchers involved in series of chain-snatching incidents that were reported on May 2.
