University sweepers’ stir enters fourth day

September 7, 2018

Mysuru: The indefinite stir launched by sweepers and other civic workers of University of Mysore (UoM) near Kuvempu statue in Manasagangotri campus, urging for fulfilment of their various demands, entered the fourth day today.

The protestors, claiming that they are working in the University campus for over 14 years, demanded regularisation of services, minimum wages and statutory benefits such as ESI, PF etc., among others.

Yesterday, UoM acting VC Prof. T.K. Umesh and Registrar Prof.Rajanna visited the protestors and reportedly held a meeting with the workers union. But as the meeting was unfruitful, the protestors continued with their indefinite stir for the fourth day today.
