Mysore/Mysuru: A 28-year-old woman was killed on the spot, when a KSRTC bus reportedly ran over her near K.R. Mills Colony on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway yesterday afternoon.
The deceased is Venkatamma, daughter of Krishnaiah and a resident of Kyathamaranahalli in city. Yesterday afternoon, Venkatamma, who was riding pillion with one Karthik riding the bike, was proceeding towards Srirangapatna, when a KSRTC bus hit the bike from behind at about 1.25 pm near K.R. Mills Colony.
While Karthik fell along with the bike on the left side, Venkatamma fell on the right side and the rear wheel of the bus ran over her killing her on the spot, according to eye witnesses.
N.R. Traffic Inspector Prasanna Kumar and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
Luckily, as Karthik (of Mandya) fell towards the left side, he escaped miraculously without a scratch. The body of Venkatamma was handed over to her family members after post-mortem.
N.R. Traffic Police, who have registered a case, have seized both the vehicles and are investigating.
