Mysuru: Jnanayoga Mandira, Bengaluru, together with Lions Jnanayoga Centre had organised a function at JSS Pharmacy College premises here recently to mark the birth centenary of Yoga Guru late B.K.S. Iyengar, which also marked the release of the biography of the Yoga Guru written by Dr. S.N. Omkar.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji of Jnanayogashrama, Vijayapura, opined that yoga cleanses and soothes a stressed mind. He said yoga and BKS were synonymous. He observed that the cover page of the biography depicts Iyengar’s face in three emotions to indicate that people should be cheerful, patient and content.
Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samithi member N.S. Satyanarayana recalled that BKS was felicitated by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at Jaganmohan Palace in 1934 and Wadiyar was thoroughly impressed by the yoga demo given by BKS Iyengar.
