Mysuru: A two-day Science Festival Yureka-18, organised by Yuvaraja’s College, commenced this morning at its premises here.
The Festival features events like quiz, debate, scientific rangoli, treasure hunt and code sense.
Inaugurating the programme, Mysore University In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Basavaraju observed that science and technology should be helpful to the common man and society in general.
He contended that thanks to science the whole world had virtually become small with easy communication. However, he said that quality of education should be improved with more thrust for basic science. He suggested innovative research in science. Despite quantum leap in scientific growth, Prof. Basavaraju asserted that human values should be given importance as society was based on that.
College Principal Dr. R. Ganesh presided over the inaugural. Controller of Examination Dr. H.C. Devarajegowda, Yureka-18 Convenor Dr. M. Rudraiah and others were present.
