Bengaluru: A Bengaluru Court has sentenced a Canara Bank Manager to five years imprisonment besides imposing a hefty penalty of Rs.50 lakh on him in connection with a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
H.S. Eshwar, Canara Bank Manager at Srirangapatna Branch, is the one who has been sentenced.
The Anti-Corruption Wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a charge-sheet against Eshwar in the Court, accusing him of amassing wealth of Rs.6,47,75,873 beyond his known sources of income while he served as Manager of Canara Bank between 2011 and 2014.
The 46th Additional Civil and Sessions Court Bengaluru handling CBI cases held Eshwar guilty of the charges and sentenced him to five years imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs.50 lakh on him.
Judge S.H. Pushpanjali also ordered attachment of properties worth Rs.4,90,31,838 owned by Eshwar, it is learnt.
