Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 11 KAS Officers of the State have been elevated to IAS. The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, in an order dated Nov.25, 2021, said 11 Officers of Karnataka State Civil Service (KAS) have been appointed to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) against vacancies determined by Government of India, in consultation with State Government for select list of 2020, on probation until further orders.
The officers are — N. Chandra-shekar, A.B. Basavaraju, M. Shilpa, S. Naveen Kumar Raju, Dr. M. Mahesh, S.J. Somashekar, Dr.B.V. Vasanthi Amar, G. Lingamurthy, S. Rangappa, H. Prasanna and Ibrahim Maigur.
Dr. M. Mahesh, who hails from T. Narasipur, had previously served as MUDA Commissioner at Mysuru, while M. Shilpa is from Nanjangud taluk, A.B. Basavaraju is from Maddur taluk and S.J. Somashekar is a native of Sosale in T. Narasipur taluk.
Somashekar, a 2006 batch KAS Officer, had previously served in Mysuru as Additional Regional Commissioner, CESC Managing Director and MCC Assistant Commissioner. He had also served as Additional DC at Ballari and Tumakuru. Currently, he is serving as the Administrative Officer of Karnataka Examination Authority in Bengaluru.
