57 cases registered in Mysuru from August 1 to 15
Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 12,000 cases have been registered across Karnataka against motorists from Aug. 1 to 15 for driving and riding on the wrong side of the roads, according to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) (Traffic and Road Safety) Alok Kumar.
He shared the information on his ‘X’ account, highlighting the district-wise breakdown of cases. The ADGP reported the following district-wise cases: Mysuru city – 10 cases; Mysuru district – 47; Mandya – 4; Hassan – 97; Chamarajanagar – 40; Kodagu – 0; Bengaluru – 9,397 cases.
Alok Kumar further stated that the Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Civil Police, conducted Statewide operations from Aug. 1 to 15, targeting motorists driving or riding in the opposite direction (wrong side). The operations led to the registration of a total of 12,096 cases and 51 FIRs.
Emphasising the dangers of wrong-side driving on National Highways, the ADGP pointed out that such violations could result in severe accidents, potentially leading to fatalities. He also stressed that while penalising offenders is important, the enforcement of strict traffic rules is crucial to preventing violations and ensuring road safety.
