138th birth anniversary celebration of Nalwadi and Memorial Music Concert

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Krishna Gana Sabha has organised 138th birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Memorial Music Concert at Alwar Kala Bhavan in Gokulam 3rd Stage on June 11 and June 18 at 6 pm.

June 11: 138th birth anniversary celebration of Nalwadi. Star of Mysore Founder-Editor K.B. Ganapathy will be the chief guest. Sabha President B.S. Sridhar Raje Urs will preside.

Vocal concert will be presented by Vidu. Manasi Prasad accompanied by Vid. M. Keshav on violin and Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga. [Sponsored by Doctors and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha]

PROFILE

Manasi Prasad is a Karnatak classical vocalist from Bengaluru and the Museum Director of Indian Music Experience, India’s first hi-tech interactive music museum. She learnt Karnatak classical music from renowned gurus such as R.K. Padmanabha in Bengaluru and Dr. Sriram Parasuram in Chennai. She started performing concerts at the age of 9.

Manasi is a recipient of several awards in music, including the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Govt. of India, Shanmukhananda Yuva Kalakar Puraskar, Rotary-Brigade Young Achievers Award, Ananya Yuva Puraskara and others. An AIR Graded and ICCR Empanelled artiste, she has been involved in reviving compositions of Mysore T. Chowdiah by creating an online archive www.chowdiah.com and recording his compositions.

Manasi is academically accomplished and holds an MBA degree from IIM Bangalore. She has been awarded a Fellowship by the TED Organisation and has been recognised as one of the 35 ‘Indians of Tomorrow’ by the India Today publications.

Vidu. Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath first learnt music from P.S. Vasantha and later from Seethalakshmi Venkatesan who is a widely respected guru in Bengaluru. When she was aged just 4, she was taken to sing before the giants Semmangudi and M.S. Subbulakshmi and both praised her prodigious talent.

At the age of 10, she started undergoing training with Vid. P.S. Narayanaswamy and from 17, with Vegavahini Vijayaraghavan. She won the first prize in AIR competitions in 2008 and received a Government Scholarship to train under P.S. Narayanaswamy. Aishwarya has also won prizes and awards from institutions in Bengaluru and Chennai and has performed in major Sabhas in these cities. Academically, she has graduated in Engineering – Biotechnolgy.
