14 clinics sealed for non-renewal of registration certificates

Mysore/Mysuru: Following the unravelling of female foeticide racket in the city, the Health and Family Welfare Department has cracked down upon the clinics for non-renewal of registration certificates and has sealed 14 such clinics in the district.

According to District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Gopinath, “The doctors were practicing at the clinic without any pre-requisite registration, which is mandatory under Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act. While 14 clinics have been sealed, four more have been identified and will be sealed after obtaining permission from the Deputy Commissioner (DC).”

The State Government has taken a serious view of female foeticide racket and has drawn measures to check recurrence of such cases and also to identify the quacks, with the DC constituting a Task Force at Taluk and City levels, added Dr. Gopinath.
