Murder case registered against seven suspects including two minors
Nanjangud: A 16-year-old boy lost his life allegedly due to black magic as the parents have stated in the Police complaint that their son was lured by his friends to a lake and killed him there.
The incident was reported at a lake in Halepura village in Nanjangud from where the boy’s body has been fished out. He has been identified as Mahesh alias Manu, son of Siddaraju of Hemmaragala village. A murder case has been registered against seven persons including two minor friends of Mahesh.
In his complaint, Siddaraju has stated that his son went out of the house on Sunday, the Amavasya day and his two friends lured Mahesh to the lake in the guise of washing a car. One of his friends owned the car and Mahesh readily agreed.
Siddaraju has alleged that his son was a victim of black magic as materials including a doll made of clay, a clay pot, and signs of rooster sacrifice were found on the banks of the lake. He has said that certain families in the village believed that there would be prosperity if a human was ‘sacrificed’ on Amavasya day.
He has stated in the complaint that one of such families would have killed his son. The Kavalande Police have registered a murder case against seven suspects and Police sources said that arrests would be made soon after collecting clues.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police R. Shivakumar said that Mahesh drowned in the lake at Halepura while playing with three of his friends. “I have asked the jurisdictional Police to file the FIR and we are verifying the statement given by the boy’s father and also we are speaking to his family members,” he said.
