1,920-kg banned plastic seized

Mysore/Mysuru: Following the directions of NGT State Committee Chairman Justice Subhash B. Adi, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has been taking stringent action to check plastic menace.

In separate raids, 1,920 kgs of banned plastic materials were seized in the city yesterday.

MCC Health and Environment wings raided the shop and godown of Mahesh Polymers on B.K. Street, Santhepet, in Ward No. 22 and found the sale and stock of banned plastic items. A total of 1,140 kgs of plastic carry bags were seized from the godown. In another raid, 780 kgs of banned plastic was seized from SLV Industries on C.V. Road in Bannimantap in city.

MCC Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj, MCC Environment Engineer Mythri, Health Inspectors Basavaraju and Manjukumar, Health Inspectors of MCC Zones-6 and 7 and Abhaya emergency rescue team of MCC took part in the raids.
