As part of its anniversary, JSS Sangeetha Sabha Trust, Mysuru, has arranged a two- day Basava Jayanthi Music Festival on June 3 and 4 (Saturday and Sunday) at 6 pm at JSS Primary School Auditorium, Saraswathipuram.
On June 3, Dr. M.S. Bhaskar will give a Hindustani Music Concert accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadraih Hiremath on harmonium and Ramesh Dhannur on tabla.
On June 4, Vid. Hemmige S. Prashanth will present Karnatak Music concert, accompanied by Vid. Matthur Srinidhi on violin, Vid. B.S Prashanth on mridangam and Vid. Anil Parashar on khanjira.

Dr. M.S. Bhaskar, a reputed neurosurgeon by profession in city, hails from T.Narasipur. Though he was exposed to music during his childhood, he developed keen interest to learn music while studying medicine. He learnt Karnatak music from Vidwan S. Bhimarao for a few years. Later he came in contact with late Pandit Rama Rao Naik, a stalwart of Agra Gharana, from whom he started learning Hindustani music. After the demise of his Guruji, he continued his learning from late Lalitha Ramanujam, a senior disciple of Ramarao Naik. Presently, he is having advanced training from Pandit Indudhara Nirodi.
Vid. Hemmige S. Prashanth was initiated into music by his parents Hemmige D. Sharangapani and Shakuntala Pani at an early age. Prashanth hails from the ancient village of Hemmige near Mysuru and is the grandson of the renowned Kannada and Sanskrit scholar Hemmige Deshikachar. Prashanth belongs to the Ariyakudi – K. V. Narayanaswamy tradition of music. Prashanth has been a disciple of Padmashri, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Palghat K. V. Narayanaswamy for over 7 years and is now learning under Padma Narayanaswamy for over 14 years. Prashanth’s first Guru is B. S. Radhakrishnan, with whom he studied for 12 years. Radhakrishnan is himself a prime disciple of Gana Kala Sindhu D. Subbaramaiah, one of the stalwarts of Karnatak music in Karnataka in the early part of the 20th century.
