25th All India Children’s Educational Audio & Video Festival-2021: Faculty of Mysore University bag National Awards

Mysore/Mysuru: Two faculty of University of Mysore (UoM) — K. Gopinath, Technician, EMRC, UoM and Dr. R.S. Umakanth, Associate Professor, Department of Sericulture Science, UoM — have bagged National Awards for the three documentaries at 25th All India Children’s Educational Audio and Video Festival-2021 organised by Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET-NCERT), New Delhi. 

Gopinath has bagged four National Awards for the three documentaries. They are: 

• Best Documentary Film Award and Individual Excellence Award for the Best Camera Work for ‘The Indian Grey Hornbill’ in secondary-level category. Gopinath shot, scripted, produced and directed the documentary. The language of the film is English and the duration of the film is 18:00 minutes.

• Best Documentary Film Award for ‘Liquid Waste Management-Swachh Parisar’ in the middle-level category. He has scripted, produced and directed the documentary. The language of the film is Kannada with English subtitles and the duration of the film is 12:45 minutes.

Dr. Umakanth has received ‘Individual Excellence Award – Best Research’ for his research and script of the short film titled ‘The Journey of Silk.’ The short film is in English language, the duration of the film is 15:00 minutes. This is also produced and directed by K. Gopinath.

Dr. Umakanth is presently serving as Special Officer in the Examination Branch, UoM.  

Prof. H. Rajashekar, Director of EMRC and Keerthi Kumar, Cameraman, supported in making the documentaries.

The festival was held in August 2021 and received 253 entries from all over India, and the award carries a Cash Prize and a Certificate of Appreciation.
