28 PU lecturers served notices for skipping COVID duty

Mysore/Mysuru: Taking serious note of the absence of PU College lecturers who were tasked with COVID duty , the District administration has served notices to 28 PU College lecturers for remaining absent from contact tracing work.

The district administration, through the Department of Pre-University Education, has served notices to 28 PU College lecturers of the district, under Karnataka Natural Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020, asking them to explain their absence from COVID duty, before May 15. The notice also cautioned that disciplinary action will be taken against them if they fail to respond to the notice in time.

Meanwhile, a PU lecturer, on condition of unanimity said that only Primary, High School teachers and PU College lecturers have been assigned COVID duties, while Degree College and University Lecturers are not tasked with any COVID duties. Noting that lecturers in Higher Education Dept. were getting a big salary, the PU lecturer said that this is nothing but a discriminatory practice, which has been brought to the notice of the higher authorities, but in vain.
