Mysuru: Three eminent personalities were conferred awards at a programme jointly organised by Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka Trust and Dejagow Trust, marking the 114th birth anniversary of Kuvempu and Vishwamanava Day at Kuvempu Vidyavaradhaka Trust, Jayalakshmipuram, here on Sunday.
Tarini Chidanandagowda, daughter of Kuvempu, was conferred Vishwamanava Award, woman farmer activist K.S. Nandini Jayaram was conferred Savithramma Dejagow Award and Journalist Dr. N. Jagadish Koppa was conferred H.K. Veerannagowda Journalism Award on the occasion.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Kannada Development Authority Chairman Dr. S.G. Siddaramaiah said that Kuvempu experienced life with nature while others saw life as human centric.
Pointing out that Kuvempu ignored criticism from some quarters when he wrote the great epic Sri Ramanyana Darshanam, he said that the undettered Kuvempu continued writing and earned a great name in the literary world.
Dr. Siddaramaiah also made a reference to Kuvempu’s two works — Malegalalli Madumagalu and Kanooru Heggadathi.
Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka Trust President Dr. J. Sashidhar Prasad, Kuvempu Vidya Parishat President Dr. D.K. Rajendra and others were Present.
Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Kuvempu.
