Bengaluru: As many as 358 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 14 Lok Sabha seats in the Southern part of the State which are going to the polls on Apr. 26, as the deadline for filing of nomination papers ended on Thursday. While 333 are male candidates, the rest 25 are female candidates.
The 14 Constituencies which are going to the Polls on Apr.26 are- Mysuru-Kodagu, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar (SC), Bangalore North, Bangalore South, Bangalore Central, Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar (SC), Chitradurga (SC), Dakshina Kannada, Tumkur and Udupi-Chikkamagalur.
Chikkaballapur Constituency saw the highest number of candidates with 36, followed by Bangalore South with 34, Bangalore Central with 32, Bangalore Rural with 31 and Bangalore North 25.
Kolar saw the least number of candidates-2, with only the Congress and the BJP-JD(S) coalition candidates filing their nomination papers.
Interestingly, all the 3 JD(S) candidates who are contesting from Mandya, Hassan and Kolar (SC), filed their nomination papers on the last day on Thursday. The 14 other LS Constituencies which are going to the polls on May 7 are Davangere, Shivamogga, Haveri, Dharwad, Koppal, Raichur (ST), Ballari (ST), Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Chikkodi, Vijayapura (SC), Bagalkot, Bidar and Gulbarga (SC).
