Mysuru-lad Girish A. Koushik, taking part in the 3rd Rail Wheel Factory International FIDE Open Rating Chess Tourney in Bengaluru, is in the joint lead with Karnataka’s Viani Antonio Dcunha with 7.5 points from eight rounds. In the eighth round, Girish shocked GM R.R. Laxman (ICF) and shot into the lead yesterday.
Girish Koushik (Rating 2401) in the seventh round beat K. Gunasekaran (ICF) and with his performance in this Tourney, has a plus of 6.1 ELO points.
After eight rounds, Viani Antonia Dcunha and Girish Koushik are tied with 7.5 points and are placed one and two in the rankings while T. Selvabharathy (TN), Naveen S. Hegde (Kar), B.T. Murali Krishnan (Tamil Nadu) are tied with 7 points each and are placed from third to fifth in the rankings.
Mysuru-lad V.P.S. Darshan has secured 5 points and is placed 107th in the rankings. The Tournament concludes today.
