Mysuru: Dr. B. Pushpa Amarnath, Vice-Chairperson of the Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, revealed that Mysuru district has 6,91,370 Antyodaya and BPL cards, of which only 4,221 were converted to APL cards in line with the Centre’s guidelines. She clarified that no BPL cards had been cancelled.
At a press meet held at ZP Hall yesterday, Dr. Pushpa Amarnath emphasised that Mysuru Taluk led the conversion list with 2,526 BPL cards switched to APL. She accused the BJP of misleading the public for political gains.
She highlighted the Government’s commitment to the poor through its guarantees initiative, which allocates Rs. 52,000 crore annually. She assured that these guarantees would be delivered directly to beneficiaries at the taluk and district levels, with support from ASHA and Anganwadi workers to educate families affected by BPL to APL conversions.
In addition, she announced plans for ‘Guarantee Adalat’ and ‘Namma Nadige Guarantee Anushtanada Kadege’ to address public grievances. She reiterated that the Congress Government would not cut ration under the ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme. Authority District President Arun Kumar was present.
