Bengaluru: Clearing the air on the yardstick that will be followed for promoting II PU students, the State Government on Monday told the Karnataka High Court that it will promote regular or fresher students of PU second year by giving 45 percent weightage for their marks in SSLC or equivalent board exams, 45 percent for I PU marks and 10 percent for their internal assessment marks of II PU given by their respective Colleges.
With this, the Pre-University Education Department has dropped the idea of giving grades on the marks cards.
The Government also told the Court that it will pass all repeaters of II PU exam by giving them minimum passing marks along with 5 percent grace marks in their respective subjects.
Even private candidates, who are appearing as repeaters, will be promoted by giving passing marks along with 5 percent grace marks. However, private candidates, who are appearing for the II PU exam for the first time, will have to appear for the exam that will be conducted when the COVID situation eases in the State. If the private candidates find it difficult to appear for the physical exam, they can appear for the exam to be conducted in the next academic year, for which the fee will be waived.
