50 percent rebate on traffic fines

Rs. 3.83 crore collected from  Mar. 4 till Mar. 18

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Police have collected a total of Rs. 3,83,41,150 in 1,71,705 cases from traffic offenders in city. The 50 percent rebate in traffic fines was extended from Mar. 4 till Mar. 18 midnight.

A total of Rs. 127,82,93,700 fines were pending out of which traffic offenders have paid Rs. 13,32,51,450 from Feb. 3 till Mar. 18 and there is a total of Rs. 114,50,42,250 fines to be paid from 19,16,176  e-Challan cases.

After the State Government announced 50 percent rebate on traffic fines for the first time, a total of Rs. 9,49,10,300 was collected in 4,63,167 cases from Feb. 3 to 11 and after the date was extended, a total of Rs. 3,83,41,150 fines was collected from 1,71,705 cases.

On the last day (Mar. 18), traffic offenders have paid a total of Rs. 1,32,86,600 in 44,222 e-Challan cases and have  obtained receipts.

ACP (Traffic) Parashuramappa, speaking to SOM said that following 50 percent rebate in traffic fines announced by the State Government, many people have utilised it and have paid the fines and added that if the Government extends the rebate again, many people, who were unable to pay the fines may pay the same and get  cases closed.
