Rs. 25.17 lakh collected in 11 days
Mysore/Mysuru: Following 50 percent rebate in traffic fines announced by the Government from July 6, Police personnel of all Traffic Police Stations in city have collected a total of Rs. 25.17 lakh traffic fines in 11 days (till July 17).
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP-Traffic) Parashuramappa, speaking to Star of Mysore, said that from July 6 to 17, Rs. 25,17,450 fines from 9,819 traffic violation cases has been collected.
He further said that from July 6 to 15, Rs. 21,49,300 from 8,579 cases was collected and on July 16 (Sunday) alone, Rs. 2,45,750 from 829 cases has been collected besides lauding vehicle owners who came forward and paid the fines.
The ACP called upon the vehicle owners to see that they drive and ride their vehicles by obeying traffic rules and prevent being penalised again.
Pointing out that one can prevent being penalised by following traffic rules, the ACP said that this can not only save the lives of riders and drivers but also the lives of innocent people.
