Mysuru: President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dr. Mahesh Joshi invited writers Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa, Prof. K.S. Bhagawan and Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) in the city on Friday, for the 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (All India Kannada Literary Meet) organised in Mandya from Dec. 20 to 22.
Speaking to media persons after inviting the writers at their residences in Mysuru, Dr. Joshi said, if Mandya was to be described as the ‘offshoot’ of Kannada literature, Mysuru is the root. The highest Kannada speaking population is in Mandya district, that was earlier a part of Mysuru district, which witnessed development during the reign of Maharaja Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. Hence, the Kannada lovers and writers at the mother district of Mandya are being personally invited for the literary meet, he said.
The Sammelana will be celebrated on a grand scale surpassing the previous literary meet held at Haveri. The identity and culture of Kannada and the ray of folklore will be unveiled at the meet. Kannadigas should attend the meet in large numbers, he said.
Dr. Joshi said that he would also be extending formal invitation to writers Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Sastry, Prof. Pradhan Gurudatta, Art Historian Dr. Vasundhara Kavali Filliozat and other prominent writers.
