Mysuru: Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised a Hindustani music concert by Shivani Mirajkar of Dharwad on Mar.30 at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm.
She will be accompanied on tabla by Pandit Bhimashankar Bidanur and on harmonium by Deepak Nagannavar.
Shivani, at 23 years, is recognised as the most promising Hindustani classical vocalist of the younger generation. She started her training at the age of nine, with veteran Pandit Chandrashekhar Puranikmath. Dharwad, the land which has produced many top class artistes, provided Shivani the perfect atmosphere to pursue her music career.
Presently, she is being guided by Pandit Kaivalyakumar Gurav in the intricacies of tradition of Kirana Gharana. Influenced by her gurus, she brings out a pleasant blend of various Gharanas represented by her teachers. Endowed with a rich resonant voice, Shivani’s performances are marked by an excellent command over both the rhythm and the melody, leaving the connoisseurs spell-bound.
Shivani is known for her swift and fast taans with a touch of melody. Her voice is her forte and has the capacity to enthral the audience with Thumris, Vachanas, Dasavani, Natyageet and many other genres of music.
Shivani has won many awards and they include Gold medal in National Youth Festival-2012, Kalashree Award Karnataka, Paranjape Award-Pune, Swar Vilas Baroda, and awards by CCRT and All India Radio.
She is among top three winners of Naad-Bhed Reality Show organised by Spic-Macay and Doordarshan. She was given a standing ovation by Vidu. Begum Parveen Sultana, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Vidushi Girija Devi and many other eminent musicians present at the show.
Shivani has performed in many prestigious concerts such as Bharathiya Sangeet Vidyalaya-Dharwad, Chalukya Utsav, Mysore Dasara, Infosys, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, AIR-Delhi etc.
