A Grand Hindustani Vocal Concert at Nadabrahma Sabha tomorrow

Mysuru:  Vidu. Srimathi Devi will present a Grand Hindustani Vocal Concert at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road in city at 6 pm tomorrow (Nov.30). She will be accompanied by Pt. Bheemashankar Bidanur on tabla and Pt. Satish Bhat Heggar on harmonium.

Artiste’s Profile

Srimathi’s father, Sri Jagadish Das, a Harikatha Exponent (Haridasa) and mother who sings are the inspiration for Srimathi to pursue this field.

Srimathi learnt under the tutelage of late Pt. Chandrashekar Puranikmath, the famous vocalist of Gwalior Gharana in Dharwad; Took guidance from Pt. Narayan Pandit, Honnavar — disciple of Pandit Kumar Gandharva. Later got her advanced training under Vidu. Padma Talwalkar, Pune, and also from Vysamurthy Katti of Bengaluru.

She has performed in major Sabhas in and around the globe. She has participated in many prestigious competitions and won prizes.

She has completed Vidwat Examination conducted by the Government of Karnataka with distinction; Completed MA with first class in English Literature with 3rd rank and has written many articles on music and other topics of interest.
