Singer Ramesh Kumar couple feted
Mysuru: Marking the birth anniversary of Kannada Matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, Madhuragana Kalavrunda had organised a ‘Rasamanjari’ programme at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Friday.
Singers Vishwanath Shastri, Ananth Krishna, Sudheendra, Kavita Kamat, Rashmi and Prerana rendered popular songs from Rajkumar movies and songs directed by Rajan Nagendra like ‘Yelli Ninna Bhaktaro’, ‘Jenina Holeyo’, Madhura Madhuravi’, ‘Naa Ninna Mareyalare’, ‘Neera Bittu Nelada Mele’ and many more, receiving thunderous applause from the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Film Director Bhargava opined that working in movies of Dr. Rajkumar was like working in an educational institution with ample scope for learning at every step.
He observed that Dr. Rajkumar was still immortal in the Kannada film industry with his (Raj) stellar performances.
Troupe leader and singer Ramesh Kumar and his wife were felicitated on the occasion.
Former MLC D. Madegowda, Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Melukote, Social Worker K. Raghuram, former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal and others were present.
