A student’s plea to save Koorgalli

Sir,

The once beautiful green area of Koorgalli, Mysuru, is being gobbled up by immense amount of garbage thrown in the area.

This green patch of land next to Excel Public School is a truly breathtaking sight for passers-by, the main attraction being the small lake which is home to birds.

Though this might seem a real paradise, which it is, the local residents, however, have been carelessly using this beautiful landscape to dispose of waste.

As a result, this place has become dirty in recent times with plastic being a common sight.

A signboard has been put there by Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) mentioning that persons who put garbage in this place will be prosecuted. But the signboard is of no use. Sadly, a lot of the waste is also thrown into the lake which means that birds will eat it and can be a serious health hazard.

Therefore, I feel that action must be taken against those who throw garbage in this land and the lake. I also request that dustbins be placed in the area for proper waste disposal.

Not just Koorgalli, many green areas in Mysuru are becoming areas for waste disposal. So I wish that by providing dustbins in such areas, the beauty of these areas can be preserved.

Hope my plea will create awareness among the people to save Koorgalli and other such green areas of Mysuru.
