Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that a writer should also become society friendly, veteran writer Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK) said that at the same time it is important to keep in mind the well-being of the society.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘M.B. Santosh Shastipoorthi Sambhrama’ programme organised by M.B. Santosh Fans Association marking the 60th birthday of writer M.B. Santosh, at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar on Sunday.
Observing that the growth of good writers, poets etc., will also spur the growth of the society, Dr. CPK opined that literature is not meant only for the sake of happiness, but also for the upliftment of the society. Writer M.B. Santosh too is one among those who nurtured the growth of society through literature, he added.
Pointing out that 20 works written by Santosh was representative of many forms of literature, the veteran writer said, though Santosh is a stenographer by profession, his achievement in literature is remarkable. The autobiography on Santosh titled ‘Santosh Parva’ lucidly explains his life and times, he added.
Dr. CPK also lauded Santosh for engaging in a wide range of social activities.
Writer Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj, who delivered the felicitation address, said that it is happy to note that Santosh’s fans have organised this programme marking the 60th birthday of the writer. Noting that Santosh has more than 20 works to his credit, he said that the programme is a fitting tribute to the writer for all his literary works, social service and kind heartedness.
The felicitation volume titled ‘Santosh – Sampreeti’ was released and M.B. Santosh and his wife Rekha Santosh were felicitated on the occasion.
Chikka Arakalgud’s Sujnana Prabhu Peetha Seer Sri Shivasujnana Theertha Swamiji graced the occasion. Senior writer Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy presided.
