Mysuru: The extension of the deadline to Dec. 14, 2024, is for free Aadhaar updates and not for the regular update of Aadhaar card details, clarified Col. N.G. Krishna Prasad (Retd.), Centre Manager, Aadhaar Seva Kendra, Mysuru.
Following the publication of the news item, ‘Aadhaar card update: Free services end on Dec. 14’ in Star of Mysore dated Sept. 16, he has stated that residents who have had their cards for more than 10 years can update their identity proof and address proof documents online, free of charge up to Dec. 14, 2024.
Only the address on the Aadhaar card can be updated online. This is not free and Rs. 50 is charged for this. All other demographic details such as name, date of birth or gender can only be updated at the Aadhaar Seva Kendras, he stated.
Procedure to update documents free of charge
1. Visit the website, myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
2. Login with your Aadhaar number and enter Captcha. Enter the OTP received.
3. For Document update, click on the Document update option at the top left corner. Read the given procedure and follow the instructions. This will update your documents in the Aadhaar database but there will be no changes in your Aadhaar card.
4. If you want to update your address online, click on the Address update option at the top right corner of the dashboard. Read the procedure and follow the instructions. This will help you to change your address on your Aadhaar card.
5. For changes in any other details such as name, gender or date of birth, visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra with original proof documents.
