Aashaada edition of ‘Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava’ held

Mysore/Mysuru: Champaka Educational and Cultural Trust, Mysuru, had organised the ‘Aashaada’ edition of ‘Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava’ series on Aug. 10 at Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar, with Bharatanatyam performances by accomplished artistes of Mysuru and Bengaluru.

The evening started with Bharatanatyam performance by junior disciples of Vidu. Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy, Mysuru. Little performers showcased adavus, basic dance steps that form the foundation of Bharatanatyam.

Vidu. Amrutha Shashank, Founder and Director of Kaarunya Dance Academy, Bengaluru, along with her disciples, presented a Bharatanatyam feature starting with Ganesha stuti ‘Ambasuta Karivadana Kaayo’ followed by ‘Padavarna’ beautifully showcasing different stages of Sri Krishna’s life from childhood till the Kurukshetra war.

The event concluded with Bharatanatyam feature by disciples of Vidu. Gowri Priya Sethuram, Founder of Thripura Paatashaala Dance School and Indian Shades, Mysuru. They presented alaripu, jathiswara, tillana and concluded their programme with the famous composition ‘Seetha Kalyana Vaibhogame.’

Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Hon. Secretary of Mahajana Education Society, Mysuru, was the chief guest. She spoke about the pleasure given by the different art forms and the importance of learning different art forms to get rid of stress in life. She appreciated the efforts of Vidu. Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan and the Trust in promoting and upholding the cultural values.

Vid. Badri Divya Bhushan was also present during the event and distributed the Certificate of Appreciation to all the performers. He spoke about the dedication needed in learning Bharatanatyam and appreciated the participants and the efforts of organisers of Kalaa Utsava in providing opportunity for different artistes to showcase their talents.

Trustees Nagarajan Srinivasan and K.A. Deepamani were present. Members of the public attended and enjoyed the event.
