Mysore/Mysuru: Champaka Educational and Cultural Trust, Mysuru, has embarked on an ambitious initiative to conduct monthly cultural events to showcase Indian performing arts under the banner “Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava”.
The ‘Aashwayuja’ edition in this series will be held on Saturday (Nov.4) 4.30 pm at Champaka Sabhangana, Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar, showcasing Bharatanatyam performances by accomplished artistes from Bengaluru, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar.
The evening will start with a Bharatanatyam performance by the disciples of Vidushi Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy. They will be supported by Vidushi Shruti Prasad, Vidwan Kiran and Srinidhi in the musical ensemble.
Disciples of Guru Dr. Shobha Shashikumar, Researcher and Founder of Mayuri Nrutyashala, Bengaluru, will present a dance feature “Bharata Nrityarpanam”, depicting Sage Bharata’s legacy involving “chaaris” and “karanas” of Naatya Shaastra by adapting them into modern dance items.
Vidwan V. Mahesh, Founder of Sri Sharadha Nruthya Kala Shaale, Chamarajanagar, along with his disciples, will present “Nritya Vaibhava,” a Bharatanatyam feature.
