Mysore/Mysuru: Lakshmi Govindaraju, the elder sister of late actor Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar, said that Puneeth was a great human being and has left behind a trail of his social service.
She was speaking after releasing ‘Abhinava Samrat Puneeth Chutukugalu,’ an edited work of limericks on the late actor by writer Ratna Halappagowda, at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat women’s wing and District Unit of Chutuku Sahitya Parishat at the District Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Vijayanagar first stage here on Sunday.
Highlighting the social services of Dr. Puneeth, who was popularly known as ‘Appu,’ Lakshmi said that her late brother also gave opportunities to new talents in the film industry.
Noting that the book contains rare photographs related to Appu, she said that the photographs also included those on his personal life and profession.
Continuing, she said that her three brothers — Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar — emulated the public life of their father Dr. Rajkumar and it is for this reason that the sudden death of Appu created such a huge shock and disbelief both within and outside the family.
Author Ratna Halappagowda, former Minister M. Shivanna, film producer S.A. Govindaraj, Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Central Committee President and former MLC Thontadarya, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, Dr. MGR Urs, S.A. Srinivas, H.N. Lokeshappa and others were present.
