Shravanabelagola: Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji participated in the special Mahamastakabhisheka and performed abhisheka to Bhagawan Bahubali’s statue in this temple town popularly known as Jain Kashi, yesterday.
The Swamiji who reached the office at the foot of Vindyagiri Hill at 11 am was welcomed by performing Pada Puja and a memento being presented. He later reached the hilltop sitting on a Doli along with Pontiff of Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji.
Speaking after performing abhisheka to the monolithic statue of Gomateshwara, the Suttur Seer said, “It is a very happy occasion for me to participate. Bhagawan Bahubali known for his sacrifice, peace and non-violence is a role model for the entire world.
He renounced the world and through hard penance attained liberation. Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji has the honour of conducting four Mahamastakabhishekas very successfully, which is a record in the thousand year history of the pilgrimage centre.”
The 88th Mahamastkabhisheka that began in February is now being held every Sunday and yesterday under the guidance of Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, the Karnataka Jain Mahila Okkuta participated.
