Mysore/Mysuru: Noted actor and theatre director Mandya Ramesh released two books (‘Drama Club’ and ‘Shadguna’), written by Rangayana artiste Ramnath (who retired on May 31, 2024) during the inauguration of Anubhuti Trust at B.V. Karanth Rangachavadi in Rangayana premises here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Mandya Ramesh recalled his close association with the books author Ramnath for the past 35 years.

Pointing out that Mysuru Rangayana is known for creativity, Mandya Ramesh said that B.V. Karanth started Rangayana with a team of 25 artistes drawn from different parts of the State.

“I and Ramnath were part of this team and Ramnath is retiring from Rangayana after a long service and two books have been released marking the occasion”, he said adding that Ramnath always advocated the need for inclusion of theatre in college curriculum.

Observing that the book ‘Drama Club’ provides an opportunity for the youths to take interest in theatre, Ramesh suggested that everyone should purchase and read the book.

He further said that it is a matter of joy that B.V. Karanth composed the Music for plays scripted by Ramnath.

Former Rangayana Director C. Basavalingaiah, in his address, said that it is disappointing to watch cinemas and TV serials these days.

Observing that the current day artistes have little knowledge about acting, he said that, however, Rangayana provides a perfect platform for budding artistes to hone their acting skills and talent and reach greater heights in acting.

Stressing on the need for institutions like Rangayana to function independently, he said that any Government intervention would hamper freedom of expression.

Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapati, Anubhuti Trust Secretary Srividya Kamath, Roopashri and others were present.
