Mysore/Mysuru: The Adhika Shraavana Anka edition of Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava was held on Aug. 5 at Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar.
Esteemed guests for the day were the renowned doctor couple of Mysuru, Dr. Mahesh Kumar and Dr. Chitralekha, Founders of Chitra’s Hospital, Mysuru.
Dr. Mahesh Kumar, who addressed the gathering after the inauguration, spoke about the role of development of better cognitive skills in the dancers apart from the many physical benefits.
He spoke about the importance of learning dance at any age. The beginners group students of Champaka Academy, trained under its Founder Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, performed Bharatanatyam to the delight of the audience.
R. Lasya Priya, disciple of Dr. Malini Ravi Shankar, who is a renowned Guru from Bengaluru, performed an exclusive musical dance feature ‘Sangeeta Gana Nritya Yana’ with Pravardhan on vocals, Karthik Pranav on mridanga and K.P. Pranav on flute ably supporting her.
This performance was portrayed in the classical music concert pattern and had all the intricacies involved to dance for such a pattern and was beautifully enabled by the young dancer who is also a Konnakkol practitioner.
Next performance was by the students of Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra, renowned dancer from Mysuru, portraying the ‘Madhurya Marga’ bringing forth the Karnataka dance traditions in the 15th century.
