AGM of All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha in city on Sept. 7

Mysore/Mysuru: The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) and Executive Committee Meeting of All India Bhavsar Kshatriya Mahasabha (AIBKM) and Karnataka State Executive Committee will be held on Sept. 7 at 10.30 am at Vittala Rukmini Convention Hall on  Hunsur Road here, said Mahasabha State President N.V. Srinivas Rao Pissay.

Addressing presspersons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, he said that about 1,500 representatives from across the State will take part in the AGM during which issues related to caste census will be discussed and the same would be brought to the notice of the Government.

“Our community has been named under ‘Maratha’ caste since our mother-tongue has been mentioned as Marathi. As a result, we have been denied facilities provided by the State Government. Though our mother-tongue is mentioned as Marathi, tailoring is our main profession. Despite having about 8 lakh population, our numbers have been shown less in the census which has denied us our rights under the reservation policy. Though we wanted to move the Court regarding the issue, the community has decided to wait as Central Government will also be conducting the caste census,” he added.

Shivaji Rao Rampore, Archana Vadhoni and others were present at the press meet.
