Mysore/Mysuru: Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, in association with Santoor Ashram, Kolkata, is organising a Santoor recital by Ahilan Hatti accompanied by Pt. Jyotirmay Roy Chowdhury on tabla, on July 13 at 6 pm at Vasudevacharya Bhavana on JLB Road in city.
Ahilan Hatti is a recent graduate of Sunny Hills high school in Fullerton, California and will be attending the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He is a ganda bandhan disciple of Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya.
In addition to annual trips to Kolkata, Ahilan has travelled several cities across USA and in Mexico. His academic interests include linguistic anthropology, endangered language revitalisation and urban forestry.
Jyotirmay Roy Chowdhury learnt tabla under the tutelage of Pt. Abhijit Banerjee, Pt. Shankar Gosh and presently being groomed by Taal yogi Padma Shri Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. He is an A grade artiste of Prasara Bharati and a gold medallist in MA (Music) which he received from Ustad Zakir Hussain. Jyothirmay has performed as a soloist and as an accompanist all over India with stalwarts in the field of Hindustani music.
Guru, Internationally acclaimed Santoor exponent Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya, will grace this concert.
