AICC General Secretary B.K. Hariprasad resigns

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary B.K. Hariprasad has resigned from the post.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Hariprasad said that the defeat suffered by Congress in the local body election in Odisha had prompted him to quit.

Referring to the results of Assembly elections in five States, he said that BJP was hyping over their victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He pointed out that Congress had won in Punjab and also had emerged as the single largest party in Goa and Manipur.

He alleged that Goa Governor had bowed to the Central lobby and has invited BJP to form the Govt. which is anti-democratic action thus sidelining Congress. He pointed out that Manohar Parrikar who has failed as Defence Minister has been shifted to head Goa Government just to rehabilitate him. He added that same was the position in Manipur.

Hariprasad said further that the poll results in North would have no bearing in South and added that Congress was strong and confident enough to win the bypolls and the next Assembly election. He said that people leaving Congress were just migrants which would not weaken the party.
