Mysuru:With the Lok Sabha polls just a couple of months away, AICC leaders on Sunday met Congress leaders of Mysuru to discuss the choice of party candidate from Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha seat.
AICC General Secretaries in-charge of Karnataka, Manik Thakur and Vishnunadhan visited the Congress office near the City Railway Station and met party office-bearers, members of local bodies and senior leaders for eliciting opinion on choosing the Congress candidate.
Even as the Congress has begun the process of selecting candidates for Lok Sabha polls, the party high command is believed to be in favour of fielding former CM Siddharamaiah from Mysuru-Kodagu seat.
Former Chamaraja MLA Vasu, former MP & former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar, AICC spokesperson and Supreme Court Advocate Brijesh Kalappa, KPCC Shakti Kendra Chief Sooraj Hegde, former CADA Chairman C. Dasegowda, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar and Senior High Court Judge B.R. Chandramouli are strong contenders for the seat, which is currently represented by Pratap Simha of the BJP.
However, the names of C.H. Vijayshankar, Brijesh Kalappa and Sooraj Hegde have been favoured by many Congress leaders, while the names of C. Dasegowda and District Congress Presidenr Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar too have been recommended by Congress leaders of Mysuru district, it is learnt.
