Mysore/Mysuru: Students from different colleges, under the banner of All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), staged a demonstration in front of Crawford Hall here on Monday, demanding withdrawal of the NEP-2020 (National Educational Policy), which they claimed was against the academic interests of students.
Maintaining that the NEP is mainly responsible for the drop in admissions at Degree colleges, the students alleged that hike in fees and grant of autonomy to Government colleges is part of the NEP plans. As such, the State Government should come forward to safeguard Higher educational Institutions of the Government, they said.
Wanting the Government to develop State-run educational institutions, they urged for establishment of a Government Engineering College in Mysuru district as it would be beneficial to scores of poor students who want to pursue technical courses. They also demanded filling up of all teacher vacancies and to develop infrastructure in Govt. Maharani’s College in city.
AIDSO District President Subash, Office-bearers Chandrakala, Nitin, Swati, Chandrika, Chandana, Hema, Dhanushree, Anjali, Shreyas, Jettappa, Disha and others were present.
