Mysore/Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, is a premier institute catering to the needs of Persons with Communication Disorders, functioning under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
One of the primary objectives of the Institute is to educate the public regarding different communication disorders, preventive measures to be taken, measure of early identification facilities available for assessment and rehabilitation of different communication disorders.
More than 4 percent of the general population is known to suffer from various communication disorders under hearing loss, ear infections, tinnitus, long speech due to stroke, delayed speech development, stuttering, mispronunciations, voice problem, etc. Keeping this in mind, the Institute aims to educate the public about their disorder through a series of talks by experts, Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
In collaboration with Akashvani, a 13-week series programme titled AIISH AISIRI will be broadcast every Sunday at 9 am starting from Mar.8.
The experts will talk for 20 minutes about various speech, language and hearing disorder, their prevalence and incidence, assessment procedures and the treatment available.
The citizens are requested to make best use of the information being given and also join hands in spreading awareness of communication disorders.
