Mysore/Mysuru: AYUSH Commissioner Dr. K. Srinivasulu inaugurated the Outreach Unit of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) at its Centre of Excellence building, in the city on Friday.
The District Administration in association with Zilla Panchayat and AYUSH Department had organised the programme, during which, Srinivasulu said, the newborn kids having any speech and hearing disorders will be diagnosed and treated at the Outreach Unit.
AIISH, which is popular in the fields of speech and hearing therapy and rehabilitation, research and human resource development, has now expanded its area of activities towards diagnosis and treatment facilities, which is indeed commendable.
AIISH has adopted AYUSH treatment method and is also making efforts towards treating complaints related to stroke and lack of communication with the brain, he said.
With children suffering from complaints of intellectual capabilities, self-dependence and hyper activities and lack of attention, finding it difficult to communicate with others, steps should be taken to ensure health condition of such children. The Unit will come in handy in addressing such issues, he added.
AIISH Director Dr. M. Pushpavathy, District AYUSH Officer Dr. Pushpa and others were present.
