Sir,
It was heartening to note the replacement of the FlyBus with an Airavat-class bus on Jan. 1, 2024, at 01:00 hrs for my journey from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru to Mysuru.
But what surprised me was that the KSRTC conductor charged the regular FlyBus rate of Rs. 870 for my ticket (PNR J98325916) instead of reducing the fare to the Airavat-class bus. Evidently, all passengers were subjected to the same rate, which should have corresponded to the Airavat-class bus charges.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the FlyBus is currently out of order and undergoing repairs. If KSRTC aims to serve Airport passengers, ticket pricing should reflect the fare structure of the available alternative, in this case, the Airavat-class bus. It is unfair to charge passengers FlyBus fare when actually Airavat-class service is offered.
We express our desire to explore other transportation options, such as the Metro, once it extends its line from Bidadi to the Bengaluru Airport and facilitates a smooth journey from Mysuru to Bidadi via a regular train.
Until then, our sole recourse is to rely on the FlyBus, a situation compounded by its exploitative nature towards public transport users due to the inadequate maintenance of FlyBus class.
Notably, the KSRTC is levying an additional charge for a bus service that initially promised premium amenities upon its launch. Regrettably, these services are no longer available as the FlyBuses suffer from poor maintenance, exhibiting signs of wear and tear, including an unpleasant odour in the interiors at times. Alternatively, considering a taxi from Mysuru or utilising the train service to Bengaluru Majestic Station, followed by the Airport Vayu Vajra buses, seems to be a more reliable and efficient choice.
