A District-level inter-college cultural competition ‘Akashagange’ was organised by JSS Women’s College in Saraswathipuram recently.
About 500 students from various colleges across the district participated in the event comprising Treasure Hunt, Group Folk Dance, solo Classical Dance, Bhavageethe and Quiz competitions.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. K. Rameshwarappa, Deputy Director, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that art was an external science, which rejuvenates everybody.
He observed that only a few people go down the memory in history because of their artistic achievements and advised the students not to pursue any art for academic interest and marks but with genuine interest.
He further said that art has no limits and creativity with imagination can evolve many manifestations.
Dr. C. Somashekar, retd. Secretary, Dept. of Co-operation presided. Bigg Boss Kannada winner Pratham was the chief guest. College Principal Dr. K.V. Suresh, Dean (Education) H.B. Suresh, Kannada Professor S.P. Umadevi and others were present.
