Sanskrit Varsity VC Dr. Padma Shekar is President – designate for the meet
Mysuru: Akhila Bharata Kannada Samskruthika Parishat is organising a two-day Akhila Bharata Kannada Samskruthika Sammelana in city on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Disclosing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here recently, Parishat Hon. President N. Girigowda said that Karnataka Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Padma Shekar has been selected as the Sammelana President and added that the venue for the event would be decided shortly.
He further said that the sammelana would feature seminars on various cultural topics, lectures, poets meet, music programmes and felicitation to achievers. He added that it was proposed to hold such sammelanas once every three years at all district centres.
Parishat President Prabhuswamy, Executive member K.N. Jayaramegowda and others were present at the press meet.
Profile: Dr. Padma Shekar was born at Thorenur in Kodagu district. She is a gold medallist from Mysore University with a Ph.D. She has served as a teaching faculty for two decades at various colleges in the district and at Mysore University. She has also contributed as member of Academic Council of several Universities.
She has over 150 literary works to her credit and has won Ambarish Sahitya Award, Gorur Sahitya Award and several prizes. She was the President of Kodagu District 8th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. She is serving as VC of Sanskrit University for the last three years.
