Akshara Dasoha workers demand pension

Mysuru: Urging the Government for pension facility,  Akshara Dasoha workers (mid-day meal workers) under the banner of CITU-affiliated Karnataka State Akshara Dasoha Workers’ Association, staged a demonstration in front of Zilla Panchayat (ZP) here yesterday.

Maintaining that the Government had earlier made cuts in salaries on the promise of pension, the protestors claimed that the Education Department now has issued an order stating that the cut-off from salaries will be linked to the Prime Minister’s Maan-dhan Pension Scheme, which was not at all beneficial to them.

Urging the Government to keep its promise on pension, the protestors warned of a State- wide stir. Earlier, the mid-day meal workers marched in a procession to the ZP, raising slogans against the Government.

Association office-bearers H.S. Sunanda, Manjula, Shankaradevamma, Saraswathi, Shivanna, G. Jayaramu and others took part in the protest.
