Mysore/Mysuru: In response to the uncovering of the fake bank challan scam and other irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), K. Latha, the Under Secretary of the Urban Development Department, issued an order On Oct. 10, annulling the resolution passed at the MUDA Council meeting on Sept. 14, 2020.
The resolution, which approved the sanction of sites to land losers on a 50:50 ratio basis, has been deemed illegal and invalid. The annulment was executed under Section 67 of the Karnataka Urban Development Authorities Act, 1987. This move is a response to the failure of MUDA to complete the land acquisition process and compensate farmers who had surrendered their land for layout formation.
According to the order, MUDA is required to cancel the allotment of over 900 sites that were sanctioned to land loser farmers on a 50:50 ratio basis. However, it has come to light that many of these allottees have already sold their sites, putting the buyers at the risk of losing their purchased properties.
This development has prompted the public to exercise greater caution and scrutinise documents thoroughly before engaging in site transactions.
